| 15476.0 LRA36 RN Arcangel San Gabriel confirmed a reception report in Spanish in 3 months by a computer generated partly detailed QSL card and quite an informative form letter, telling what we already know : they plan to be back in march. As it seems, the whole staff of the Base Esperanza will be changed, including all persons working at the bc station. So, let_s see how their program will look like next year. Btw : Their planned time of activity between March-October fits exactly the Antarctic winter time, when it is more or less dark outside around the clock and the weather conditions are even more harsh than during the rest of the year. It seems to me, during that time they just don_t have not much else to do besides doing a radio program. For anybody really interested in Antarctica and human activities there let me strongly recommend the book -Antarctica-, by Jeff Rubin (Lonely Planet 1996, ISBN 0-86442-415-9). It is the best and most complete book in this field I have come across so far and surely is of great help for DXers (Utility, Amateur Radio) to find out more about all those remote places and islands you can catch signals from. | H.Kuhl-D | DX Window 043 | Dez 96 |

| Received two full data QSLs with station stamp for two very detailed reception reports I sent to Gabriel Ivan Barerra via the address listed in the Passport to World Band Radio. Also sent return postage, Cleveland postcard, and souvenirs to Gabriel. The reports were for broadcasts I heard and the station had not verified. Gabriel also enclosed a personal note and stated due to the monetary situation in Argentina QSLs have become harder to obtain direct from the station. | Heute kam der Postbote mit einem Einschreiben der Philatelie Abteilung der Argentinischen Post. Inhalt war ein verschlossener Brief von LRA 36, Radio Nacional Arcangel San Gabriel", dieser war abgestempelt am 20. Dezember 2001 und enthielt eine detaillierte QSL Karte fuer meinen Bericht vom 10. September 2001, einen Formbrief mit einem Riesenstempel (d = 8 cm) und ein Informationsfaltblatt in Englisch ueber die Base Esperanza. What touched me greatly is the Xmass paper application card, made by the children of the Base Esperanza. The envelope sent from Antarctida on the 5-th of December, it left Baires on the 14-th of January, and arrived to my local post office in Moscow on the 26-th. | ANTÁRTIDA, 15476, recibida por mail, e-QSL de LRA 36 Radio Nacional Arcángel San Gabriel, con datos completos, con el escudo y fotos de Base Esperanza y en la que se detalla que transmiten con una antena rómbica de tres planos linea abierta y con una potencia de 10 Kw. Operador de la emisora es el Sargento Mayor Mario Gallardo, locutoras Dña. Yolanda Sotomayor y Dña. Gabriela Santiano y Director de la emisora, y también de Base Esperanza, D. Nestor Arguello que es quién emite el "Certificado de Recepción". El próximo 10 de Diciembre, aproximadamente, saldá de la base el avión "twin-otter" que llevará la correspondencia al continente, en la que me enviarán carta QSL por correo ordinario, con firma y sello de la base. LRA 36 saldrá al aire, con sus locutoras en directo, hasta el marates 30 de Noviembre, a partir de ahí, tendrán solo programas de música grabada, ya que empezará a producirse el relevo anual en la base. El informe de recepción se envió por correo ordinario y se adjuntó un IRC. Laufzeit war 297 !!! Tage. Hätte der Brief Wasserflecken gehabt, könnte man annehmen, die haben einen Pinguin mit dem Brief losgeschickt.
