Allerdings erscheint es mir seltsam, dass z.B. für Puerto Rico und Key West EINE " email QSL " eintraf, die detaillierte Angaben zum Senderstandort und Senderleistung beinhalteten. | AFRTS Diego Garcia confirmation : This email letter arrived today ! 73 from a happy Bjorn Fransson, Gotland, Sweden " This letter serves as confirmation of your August 20, 2000, reception of Armed Forces Radio and Television. The signal originates from Diego Garcia on 4319 kHz and 12579 kHz. AFRTS shortwave radio transmissions have historically existed to provide AFRTS radio service to U.S. Navy vessels and outlying military posts receiving limited American radio or television through other means. The signals will be in existence for a limited time until a new technology, which is currently being tested, allows for reception of AFRTS via satellite. We are pleased that you have received the AFRTS shortwave signal and thank you for your interest and confirmation of the signal's quality, and I apologize for the delay in my response. | Just received an e-mail verification from the Chief Broadcast Operations Specialist at AFRTS Broadcast Center confirming that the signals I received on 12579 kHz and 4319 kHz originates from Diego Garcia. | Diego Garcia QSL : I received today an email QSL from AFN for my reception of Diego Garcia, 4319 kHz, on 21 October 2000. Reception was for the time period beginning 2345 UTC, and the reception window lasted about 15 minutes. This was done using a beverage antenna running towards South America. Unterzeichnerin ist Jennifer Gray, Broadcast Operation Specialist. Der Briefaustausch wurde über die bekannte Adresse des Naval Media Center in Washington abgewickelt. I have also sent a f/up report via air mail to Navy Media Center Detachment, Diego Garcia. It will be interesting to see what comes of this! By the way "JOSN" stands for Journalist Seaman, the entry level rating for Navy journalists/media reps. Previous signer was JOC Michael Foutch who is a Chief Journalist.
