| Just heard a transmission of Rikisútvarpiđ on 5055. This channel has been observed for a few occasions only during the last two years, reported in 2/96 and 3/97, as mentioned in TBL. I received a QSL for a report of nearby 5040 kHz; I heard them from 1815-1900 at Dec. 31, 1994. | QSL AFRTS Keflavik : I just received a highly appreciated black and white QSL-card directly from AFRTS in Keflavik poststamped by Icelandic Mail on 27 MAR 2002. As far as I know, no one else has received it so far ! It verifies my report of 3903 kHz on 2nd March 2002 heard at 0525-0605. With the report, I attached an IRC and my businesscard, and the reply arrived after 26 days in a handwitten envelope from Sig Jonsson, Naval Media Center, 235 Keflavíkurflugvöllur, Iceland - nearly the same address which is in WRTH2002 page 232 and which I used. The card is signed by the same person, probably with the full first name Sigdur which is Icelandic. In Danish it would have been Sigurd. | Today I received a big enveloppe with a computermade letter. The enveloppe gave the adress:Sigurdur Jonnson, Chief Engineer, Navmediacenbcst Det Keflavik, PSC1003 Box 25, FPO AE 09728-0325. The letterhead was from the Naval Media Center, Broadcasting Detachment, PSC 1003 Box 25, FPO 09728. The letter was signed by P.Huizinga (a typical Dutch name!), JOCS (SW) USN, Officer in Charge and reads: "Congratulations!! | QSL AFRTS Island : Bei mir kamen heute ebenfalls innerhalb weniger Stunden QSLs aus Keflavik und Washington. Wie Ms. Huizinga mitteilt, wird das urspruenglich aus Kalifornien stammende Signal von Keflavik aus nach Grindavik (im Sueden) geleitet und von dort auf 13855 kHz ausgestrahlt. Zielgruppe ist amerikanische Matrosen (wohl die von der Navy), die im Norden, von Satelliten nicht abgedeckten Meeresgebieten, unterwegs sind.
